Tizen Open Source Project & Samsung Tizen TV REVIEW

Tizen open source project played an important role of the evolution of Samsung TV. In this session, we will explain how an open source project can be used in business world with Samsung Tizen TV. As well, we will give new opportunity to platform business after the device platform.

  • Hobum (Vincent) Kwon holds a M.S degree in Computer Science from NYU Tandon School of Engineering. After 2 years of start-up experience in NYC, he joined Samsung Electronics in 2003 and developed Java Runtime (JVM, graphics, JSR) and successfully deployed it to Samsung Smart TVs, STBs, BDP since 2007. Since then he has been serving as one of Tizen Architect leading APIs & Runtime for Native, Web, C#. Currently, he is a head of Common Platform Lab and in charge of Tizen .NET, web, and services.
  • Seokjae Jeong

  • Seokjae Jeong holds a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from Ajou University. He was a researcher at SUNY Stony Brook, where he researched about 3D Graphics. He joined Samsung Electronics in 2007 and was in charge of UI framework & Graphics development of Samsung Linux Platform and Tizen Platform. Since 2012, he had been leading Tizen mobile & TV TV S/W platform development as one of the main S/W architects. He has been leading Samsung Smart TV S/W Platform development as the head of S/W Platform Lab in Visual Display Business Division since 2017.
